For Travelers

Airports

O’Hare and Midway are Chicago’s two airports. Chicago’s public transportation system (the CTA) has trains that lead directly into both airports from downtown Chicago. The reception venue is 20 minutes by train from O’Hare and over an hour via two trains from Midway, so if you’d like to fly into town and go straight to the wedding, then O’Hare is the airport for you. If you’re staying at a hotel downtown, then both airports are equally convenient.

Hotels

There are no hotels near the Copernicus Center (where we’re getting hitched). But don’t fret–the Copernicus Center is a 3-minute walk to the Blue Line train, which will take you downtown and to the O’Hare area, where there are plenty of hotels. Unsure of where to stay? Send us a note and we’ll be happy to make recommendations based on your needs/desires.

Transportation

Chicago has a wonderful transportation system made up of several trains and buses. Renting a car is not necessary. Save your car rental funds for hot dogs, Garret’s popcorn, and the riverboat architecture tour!

Things to Do

The Architectural Boat Tour
One of the best ways to get to know Chicago’s history, see some beautiful buildings, and spend a few hours on the water to boot. Absolutely one of the nicest things to do in Chicago.

Millennium Park
Just a lovely downtown park, and the Bean is a fantastic sight.

Museums!
Chicago has great, organized, easy-to-digest museums. The Field Museum is great for history buffs, and the Art Institute always has a interesting featured exhibit. Fact: Lindsay and Matt first got to know each other at the Art Institute, when Matt was in Chicago on tour. They bonded over movies at a Toulouse Lautrec exhibit.

Hot Doug’s
Where Matt and Lindsay went on one of their first dates. The best hot dogs you will eat in your lifetime; we have never found anyone to disagree.
